Director of Women's Basketball Operations (Program Director) (10992)

Reporting to the Head Women’s Basketball Coach and Director of Athletics, the Director of Women’s Basketball Operations assists with monitoring academics, compliance reporting, community services, team travel, fund raising, organization of practices, and any other area of responsibility as directed by the Head Coach or Director of Athletics. This position will act as the main women’s basketball staff contact for other department and campus units.

Additionally, the Director of Women’s Basketball Operations will serve as sole coordinator and administrator for all camps and clinics, requiring independent judgment in decisions regarding marketing strategies, design, scheduling, etc. The selected candidate must subscribe to the SIUE Principles Governing Athletics and comply with all University, Conference, and NCAA Division I rules and regulations. The Director will work cooperatively and responsibly with other departmental personnel, support the student-athlete concept and demonstrate continuing concern for the health, safety, and welfare of each student-athlete.

The Director of Women’s Basketball Operations may be assigned other related duties as assigned in support of the department’s mission and goals. Due to the nature of the position early morning, evenings, and weekend hours will be required. Extensive travel during basketball season is also required.

The mission of the SIUE Intercollegiate Athletics program is to provide students with opportunities to enhance their education, to represent the University, and to participate in competitive sports while developing skills and understanding. This mission is fulfilled through meeting the following objectives: 
1. Emphasize the student athlete concept and support the academic achievement of all participants;
2. Engage in all sporting activities in compliance with NCAA, Conference and University regulations and procedures;

5. Provide spectator events that contribute to campus life, build community spirit and generate regional competition and rivalry.

Fully certified at the Division I level by the NCAA, SIUE is a member of the Ohio Valley Conference and the Mid-American Conference (MAC) (men’s soccer & wrestling).

Minimum Acceptable Qualifications:
1. Bachelor's degree.
2. A total of three (3) years (36 months) in education, training, and/or work experience in the area of specialization inherent to the position (varsity collegiate/professional playing experience or experience as a student assistant/manager or experience in basketball operations/coaching with a collegiate basketball program or combination thereof). *

* Note: Master's degree in an area consistent with the duties of the position may be substituted for one (1 year) of work experience.

Preferred Qualifications:
-Master's degree.
-Additional coaching and/or operations experience.
-Previous experience managing or coordinating camps.
-Familiarity and knowledge of university, conference, and NCAA rules and regulations.
-Evidence of sound organizational skills.
-Ability to interact effectively with student-athletes, colleagues, and the public.
