What you will do:
This position will primarily provide legal support to the Department of Social Services four Professional Licensing Boards and manage subpoenas and other requests for Department of Social Services records. Duties will include acting as General Counsel for each professional licensing board including providing legal opinions and advice to the board staff; assisting with drafting legislation and administrative rules; assisting with the Request for Proposals and contract drafting; advising on open meetings and open records; and ensuring the board is in compliance with federal and state statutes and administrative rules. Duties could also include representing the Department of Social Services in administrative proceedings and on appeal and assisting with child abuse and neglect appeals as needed.
Education/Licenses:
The applicant must be a graduate of an accredited law school, be a member of the South Dakota State Bar, or willing and qualified to become a member of the South Dakota State Bar, and qualify for appointment as a Special Assistant Attorney General.
