Engineer - Flight Software - Job ID 10357

The Space Dynamics Laboratory (SDL) has been developing innovative technologies and solutions for cutting-edge DoD and intelligence programs for six decades. Our expertise is in space and airborne IR, VIS, UV, and RF sensors, small satellite technologies, test and calibration, cybersecurity, data assurance, and ground stations.
The Space Dynamics Laboratory (SDL) is looking for several flight software engineers to join our team and develop high reliability flight software for space-borne platforms. What could be more exciting than programming micro-controllers and FPGAs for satellites? Join our team! 
Our flight software engineers participate in every aspect of software development. Your primary responsibility will be to generate code, but you will also be intimately involved in testing, debugging, integration, and operational testing. You will be working shoulder to shoulder with the flight hardware and systems engineering teams. The satellites will range in side from 1U nanosats to ESPA class platforms. 
The work location is Kirtland Airforce Base in Albuquerque, NM in support of the Air Force Research Laboratory. Air Force Research Laboratory launches several satellites a year for the purpose of testing out new electronics and sensor technologies. If the idea of being the first person to fly a particular new piece of electronics in space appeals to you, then this is the job for you. 
Key Responsibilities:
· Developing and testing embedded space flight software
· Supporting spacecraft component integration and test
· Preparing satellites for launch
· Supporting software development and integration for mission planning, spacecraft operation, and telemetry data processing systems
Required Qualifications:
· BS degree in computer science, computer engineering, electrical engineering, or other related technical field
· Strong background in C/C++/C#, embedded software development, and hardware interface/control
· Experience with hardware testing, debugging, and interfaces
· Demonstrated ability to follow rigorous software development processes including analysis, design, testing, peer review, and continuous integration techniques
· Work effectively both independently and within multi-disciplinary teams
· Excellent communications skills, both written and verbal
· Must be a US citizen and be able to obtain a US government security clearance
· Must be able to travel
Preferred Qualifications:
· Familiarity with real-time systems, Linux, VxWorks, driver development, network programming, and concurrency
· Active DoD security clearance
