English/Language Arts - Middle School Teacher

Summary: Teaches middle school students academic, social, and motor skills in the Bruce-Guadalupe Middle School by performing the duties outlined below.

Duties:
  • Prepares course objectives and outline for course of study following curriculum guidelines or requirements of state and school
  • Lectures, demonstrates, and uses audiovisual teaching aids to present subject matter to class
  • Prepares, administers, corrects tests, and records results
  • Assigns lessons, corrects paper, and hears oral presentations
  • Teaches rules of conduct
  • Maintains order in classroom and during instruction activity
  • Counsels pupils when adjustment and academic problems arise
  • Discusses pupil’s academic and behavioral attitudes and achievements with parents
  • Keeps attendance and grade records as required by school
  • Coordinates and participates in class field trips
  • Attends meetings, conferences, and in-service, and participates in special events of the school and the agency

Working Conditions:
This position is in a classroom setting. Noise level is low to moderate depending on instructional plans. May have to sit or stand for long periods of time. Being able to walk up and downstairs occasionally throughout the day is necessary. May include lifting, bending, pushing, and pulling. Reasonable accommodations may be made to help perform essential functions.

Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree from a four-year College or University, with a major in Education; At least one year of related experience and/or training is preferred; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Must be certified by the Wisconsin Department of Instruction. Individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily and maintain good collegial relationships.
