Job Description:

We are currently recruiting for a motivated Senior Electrical Test Engineer to complete highly complex testing of components, systems, and full product assemblies while working independently. A Senior Electrical Test Engineer may lead other team members in projects related to specific technical areas of which they are considered the expert. Technical expertise and competence along with continuous product innovation will be the primary goals of this position.

  • Promotes and manages a safe work environment at all times.
  • Develops and supplies technical information to other groups and departments as required. These groups would include Design, Tooling, Sourcing, Testing, Analysis, Manufacturing Engineering, Tech Pubs, Industrial Design, Quality, Service and Marketing
  • Documents and presents technical information and arguments during design reviews and leads follow-up investigations
  • Documents and develops new test procedures and internal testing standards
  • Helps develop innovation/learning test plans with Testing Manager
  • Develops and manages project Design Verification Plans and Reports (DVP&Rs)
  • Leads and conducts forensic investigations for failure modes as the result of component or product testing
  • Programs test chambers and develops detailed test and repeatable test procedures and methods
  • Periodic presentations of new testing capabilities and technologies to platform managers, marketing managers, executives, etc.
  • Performs engineering calculations, investigations, and tasks as determined in test investigations
  • Prepares, secures and reviews cost estimates, compiles required cost and equipment information, and writes appropriation requests
  • Develops innovative solutions and technologies to testing problems considering customer needs
  • Supports multiple projects concurrently and provides technical test planning for technicians
  • Participates in technical design reviews related to technology and sub-systems that will be used on assigned platform and innovation projects
  • Completes professional test engineering assignments of broad scope
  • Exercises discretion as to personal work details
  • May mentor other team members on specific technology in which they are considered an expert
  • May delegate tasks to other engineers and technicians working as a cross functional resource
  • May manage a technical specialty area
  • Readily identifies, develops and applies technical tools/disciplines
  • Other responsibilities, duties, skills, experience or requirements as required

THE QUALIFICATIONS...

  • Education and/or Experience: Bachelor's degree in Engineering (B. S.) or Technology from a four-year accredited institution with the focus being relevant to the job requirements of the technical team he/she is assigned to (example: Mechanical, Electrical, etc.) and 7 or more years of experience.
  • Competencies:
  • Demonstrated ability to complete small to moderately complex engineering assignments with the mentorship of more experienced engineers
  • Proficient in the use of data acquisition tools such as Lab View, Somat TCE, Siemens SCATAS, Graphtec, or other data acquisition tools
  • Able to analyze electrical response variability with statistical tools such as Minitab or equivalent for studying statistical variation
  • Ability to transform industry specification such as IEC, ANSI and UL into test design and perform complex tests and analyze results
  • Ability to evaluate projects and schedules and determine the length of tests scheduled
  • Ability to design detailed tests and test plans
  • Ability to utilize advance test methods such as Halt or ALT to verify component design
  • Correlate develop and execute and correlate duty cycle testing
  • Ability to perform engineering calculations and to use and understand engineering software tools
  • May be considered an expert in one or multiple technology areas relevant to test technologies and software
  • May be considered an experienced mentor
  • The ability to organize and hand off work tasks to engineers, technicians and technical engineering specialists

Occasionally is exposed to a noise level in the moderate to high range.  Occasionally is exposed to risk of electrical shock.  Employee is always expected to use company provided PPE in their work environments  
  • Travel: Occasionally required to perform work related travel
