Requirements (Education, Experience, Licensure, Certification): 
  • Bachelor’s degree in Social Work or a related field plus two (2) years Children’s Services case work experience and one (1) year Safety Culture Coordinator or two (2) years Children’s Services management experience
  • Must complete Supervisor CORE Training
  • Must complete minimum of 60 hours of training in the first year of employment in the supervisory position and 30 hours of in-service training every year thereafter
AGENCY-PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Master’s Degree in Social Work (MSW)
  • License in Social Work (LSW)
Job Duties (Summary):
  • Under direction of Safety Culture Administrator, the Intern Management Advisor will utilize clinical expertise to assist with creation, development, implementation, and management of Children’s Services internship program.
  • Responsible for maintaining the program at max capacity to aid in Children’s Services training and retention efforts; is responsible for decision making and actions of 10-20 Children’s Services interns, providing supervision, work direction, oversight and coaching; completes evaluations and documentation as required by universities.
  • Functions as agency single point of contact for the University Partnership Program (collaboration between Ohio Department of Job Family Services, Institute for Human Services, Public Children Services Association of Ohio, and school of social work at participating universities).
  • Develops and creates tools and curriculum, while coordinating educational opportunities to provide introductory knowledge of child welfare and Children’s Services Safety Decision Making Model.
  • Reads, reviews and adheres to all Agency and Children’s Services Policies; Evaluates, designs, and develops new policies with a focus on social work and family centered principles; ensures compliance with practice standards, OAC/ORC, and the NASW Code of Ethics
  • Ensure program compliance with all federal, state, and local, employment and labor laws as related to paid and unpaid internships.
  • Develops, establishes and reviews evaluation standards for intern program, evaluates and makes recommendations on work and performance criteria following completion of internship.
  • Schedules and participates in individual and group clinical supervision with intern staff; monitors intern performance through weekly supervision meetings where cases are reviewed, consultation occurs, and action items documented.
  • Provides education, clinical consultation, development, and information to interns regarding policies, procedures and best practice standards as it relates to safety decision making, caseload management, family engagement.
  • May issue performance improvement plans and/or disciplinary action when necessary; may make decisions regarding ending internship.
  • Serves as the agency liaison between Children’s Services and local universities; engages and build relationships within those universities.
  • Attends speaking engagements; arranges and coordinates shadow opportunities for potential hires interested in learning more about Children’s Services.
  • Partners with Human Resources in job fairs and other career events to recruit possible interns and new-hires.
  • Manages the application and on-boarding process for new interns.
  • Regular monitoring and evaluation of internship program and how it impacts Children’s Services retention efforts; assists with development of systems and procedures to further onboarding and retention efforts.
  • Collaborates with staff, supervisors and administrators in Children’s Services to provide clinical consultation and assist with identifying areas of need.
  • Develops and provides training to Children’s Services staff on safety decision making and identified areas of need to improve clinical child welfare practice.
  • In collaboration with other supporting sections, uses clinical expertise to assist in development/implementation of new systems, procedures, programs to improve agency casework practice, application and implementation of social work principles, safety decision making, effectiveness, morale, and/or quality of service through alignment with and support of the Safety Model.
  • Utilizes expertise in safety decision making and serves as a backup to supervise/manage Safety Culture Coordinators in their clinical review of identified high risk cases for serious injury, near fatality and fatality.
  • Manages the Safety Culture Analyst; overseeing data collection and reporting, process evaluation, and safety decision recommendations.
  • Attends necessary training as required.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
