Internship-Digital Marketing/Social Media

What We Expect From You:

If you are the person we described above, that’s awesome! Now that we have you here, let’s talk about some of the expectations that we will have for you in this internship position. During your 6-month internship, you can expect to be responsible for the following:

   You Are Active on Your Phone or Computer Throughout the Day: We have to be able to contact you in case we have any questions for you or you have any questions for us. We usually communicate through Slack but will sometimes send emails or chat on the phone.

   You Will Be Managing Multiple Social Media Channels: Whether you are posting on our IG, Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter, or Pinterest channels, you will be making sure that there is a constant stream of content being uploaded to our platforms that will attract the attention we need.

   You Will Be Engaging With Our Audience Daily: Making sure that our audience feels engaged is an essential part of the social media experience. As such, it will be up to you to keep up with comments and messages across our social media channels.

   You Will Share Our Content With Relevant Groups: Not only will you be sharing content on our accounts but sending them to relevant Facebook groups and other communities to ensure that we get the most possible coverage.

   You Will Use Our Analytics to Create Actionable Social Media Strategies and Goals: You can use our analytics to better understand what works with our audience, where are weaknesses are, and how we can improve our strategy over time.

   You Will Use Programs Like Canva, Over, and Adobe to Create Attractive Graphics for Social Media: While we do have graphic design interns on our team, you will still be required to create your own eye-catching graphics to post on social media. You will learn how to use the programs listed above.

   You Will Work With Our Team to Generate Viral Topic Ideas That Will Succeed on Social Media: Along with promoting the posts that are produced by our content team, you will be responsible for helping the content team come up with viral content ideas that are sure to succeed on our social media channels. The more we excel in this area, the more you do as well!


Required Experience:

Working towards a Bachelor's degree in Marketing / Communications or equivalent.

Experience working with social media, online community development/interaction, digital presentations (PowerPoint, Prezi, Camtasia, iMovie, Premiere Pro, etc.)

Knowledge of computer applications such as Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint.

Experience with WordPress or similar web content management system.

Strong writing experience with specific, real-world examples of writing samples such as news stories, press releases, white papers, brochures or equivalent.

Experience with web analytics tools, SEO and digital graphics programs (Photoshop, Illustrator,etc.)

Desire to work with a small, high-growth company where you have the ability to determine your career trajectory.

Exceptionally creative and highly competitive (high school and/or college athletic, drama,debate, chess club, etc.)

Firm understanding of available social media platforms and tools.

Strong written and verbal communication, strong analytical and problem solving skills.

Technical affinity; willingness to learn and master new technologies.
