Human Resources - Summer Internship

Brief Description of Job Responsibilities:
 Assisting with a variety of duties as assigned. Including recruiting, employee relations, customer service and employee health. Customer service and computer skills are essential.
Specialized Responsibilities:
(This list may not include all of the duties assigned)
  • Make employee and physician benefits binders, new hire folders and performance plan folders
  • File employee documents
  • One, three and five year recognition process (create memos)
  • Provide backup/support with phone screens
  • Data entry
  • Health Requirements and Immunity Status Audits
  • Quality projects as assigned
  • Miscellaneous duties as assigned
Performance Requirements:
  • Exceptional customer service, communication and organizational skills
  • Must be a detail oriented person
  • Ability to work independently, as a team member and to exercise independent judgment as appropriate
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, highly confidential environment
  • Accurate data entry and application processing is a must
  • Ability to exercise discretion in all employee matters
Education/Experience/Certifications:
  • Must be pursuing a degree in Human Resources, Communication or Business related field
  • Experience dealing with confidential information
  • Excellent computer skills, especially Microsoft Word and Excel
Non-Essential Duties:
  • Assist with special projects as needed
  • Answering telephone
Typical Working Conditions:
Work is performed in an office/clinic environment. Involves frequent telephone contact with employees and patients. Work may be stressful at times. Interaction with others is constant and interruptive. Contact may involve dealing with angry or upset people.
Typical Physical Demands:
Work may require sitting for long periods of time; also stooping, bending and stretching for files and supplies. Occasionally lifting files or paper weighing up to 30 pounds. Requires manual dexterity sufficient to operate a keyboard, operate a calculator, telephone, copier, and other such office equipment as necessary. Vision must be correctable to 20/20 and hearing must be in the normal range for telephone contacts. It is necessary to view and type on computer screens for long periods and to work in an environment which can be very stressful.
