PURPOSE STATEMENT

Come and join a creative team of Food Science professionals dedicated to developing delicious new food products. Rich’s currently has an excellent opportunity for a Product Development Co-Op in the Research and Development department at our world headquarters in Buffalo, NY. The main product categories of focus are Toppings, Creams & Culinary Solutions (TCCS). Examples of TCCS products include: cake icings, beverage toppings, egg-based emulsions, and whipped dairy blends.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES/OUTCOMES
The student will participate in a variety of research and development projects related to emulsion science; assist in the pilot/wet lab with the development of food prototypes and/or processes while applying fundamental principles of scientific methodology. The candidate will independently conduct routine analytical and performance evaluations of food as well as their own project(s). They will maintain an electronic lab notebook and document laboratory testing conducted and record results/analysis. They will organize and prioritize tasks related to project work, summarize results in reports when required and assist in interpretation of data from experiments/analysis. Students will be encouraged to improvise in the application of procedures and methods during such experiments or analyses as appropriate. Culinary experience and/or interest an asset.
KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/EXPERIENCE
Education Requirements: Preference will be given to those that are pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Food Science/Biological Science OR related field. Good grade point average required.
Other Requirements: Excellent Microsoft office skills. Must be a US or Canadian citizen to qualify for this opportunity. If Canadian, Rich’s will work with a third party to procure working student visa.
Skills: Has ability to work independently and with others. Demonstrate effective time management. Demonstrate ability to collaborate with a high level of motivation and drive to successfully complete work assignments. 
Duration: 4, 8 or 12 month term depending on student availability (12 month term preferred).  Starting date will be in May 2020.
Location: Buffalo, New-York, near the Peace Bridge. Easily accessible from Buffalo and surrounding areas as well as Fort Erie, Niagara Falls, and St.Catharine’s in Canada. The work visa will allow the student the choice to live either in Buffalo or surrounding areas of Canada. This opportunity does not include housing.
