Program Coordinator-Vocational Rehabilitation for Native Americans

Great Lakes Inter-Tribal Council is a non-profit organization formed by the Native American Tribes of Wisconsin. We serve all WI tribes by providing administration of grant-funded programs either directly or with sub grants. Programs range from Child and Maternal services to Education to Disability and Elder benefits. Our Mission is: To Enhance the Quality of Life for all Native People.

Program Director – Vocational Rehabilitation for Native Americans Position Summary Provides support to Vocational Rehabilitation Counselors and other Vocational Rehabilitation staff in the following areas: regulation compliance; information technology; personnel development; contract negotiations with vendors; and develop outreach materials and activities. Principal Duties and Responsibilities *Provides support to Vocational Rehabilitation Counselors and other Vocational Rehabilitation staff in the following areas: regulation compliance, information technology, personnel development, contract negotiations, and development of outreach materials and activities; *coaches and trains staff; *coordinates procedures and processes for more efficient provision of services; *resolution and involvement of consumer related issues; *stays current with regulation compliance matters that affect the Vocational Rehabilitation for Native Americans (VRNA) programs and attends trainings; *develops VRNA programs and training materials; *develops marketing materials and collateral to promote VRNA programs; *coordinates conferences for VRNA activities; *assumes full Supervisor responsibility for assigned staff when appropriate, and serves as a technical resource for staff and other organizational personnel on the program; *recommends new software and programs, and trains staff in current information technology programs; *serves on the Coalition of Native Americans Concerned with Disabilities and GLITC Information Technologies Committees; *assures that all services are delivered in a culturally competent manner; *engages in networking activities to ensure awareness of services available; *participates on various committees outside and within the organization as deemed necessary and appropriate to the position and Supervisor; *attends all mandatory training sessions and meetings as scheduled; *attends technical conferences and seminars to stay current on technological advances; *performs all other duties as necessary to fulfill the responsibilities of this position.
Working Relationships and Scope
Reports directly to the Chief Executive Officer. Supervises all Vocational Rehabilitation Counselors and other Vocational Rehabilitation employees. Establishes methods for developing program and training materials. Daily contact with the Accounting, other program staff, Central Administration Staff, and other agencies as needed. Ongoing contact with federal and state agencies for purposes of remaining current on various issues.
Qualifications Required: Bachelor’s Degree in Vocational Rehabilitation or related field; Master’s preferred. Minimum of three years of experience in vocational rehabilitation, training, or business management, preferably within mid to large size organizations or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience. Grant writing experience preferred. Experience with a Native American Tribal organization and/or not-for-profit agency preferred. Individual must possess: excellent verbal and written communication skills; professional demeanor and appearance; problem solving skills; ability to manage time effectively; self-motivation skills; work effectively under pressure; ability to build positive work relationships with internal and external customers; ability to interact professionally with a wide variety of people. Individual must be able to follow routine instructions and apply logic in the solving of various computer related issues. Ability to work with a diverse workforce, with knowledge of Native American culture. Experience developing PR materials. Must possess valid driver’s license and/or reliable transportation with adequate insurance and ability to travel.
This is a full-time salaried exempt position working Monday-Friday 8:00am-4:30pm with a worksite located at Great Lakes Inter-Tribal Council Main Office, Lac Du Flambeau Wisconsin. This position, based on experience, has a salary range of $50,000 - $60,000 annually with benefits including: Annual/Personal Leave and Holiday Pay; Health, Dental, Life & AD&D, STD and LTD Insurance, FSA and 401(k) Retirement Plan.
