Engineering Co-op Summer/Fall 2020

Leidos is seeking an Engineering Co-op to be located in Bethesda, MD and Manassas, VA.

JOB DESCRIPTION:
Leidos is seeking talented Engineering Co-ops, for our Bethesda, MD and Manassas, VA offices. We are seeking energetic, motivated, self-starters for these technically sophisticated and challenging positions, assisting in the development of a variety of naval training and simulation systems. Opportunities are in the field of computer programming and computer engineering.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Depending upon capabilities and desires, candidates may develop system software, numerical models, or graphical software. All software is developed in a Linux environment, and written in C++, Java, and Python utilizing various software packages. Candidates may also assemble and cable computer based systems, configure components, perform integration testing and validation, and work on system foundation components (such as power management scripts). Other candidates may develop web-based documentation, and perform inventory and configuration tasks. All work is directly applicable to actual military training systems. Co-op students will gain invaluable, real-world experience on state of the art computer based systems. This is a great opportunity for students seeking a 6+ month co-op position.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
-Must be Pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related technical degree, and have at least a 3.2 GPA.
MUST be available to work a 6 month co-op.
Candidates must have either 1) software development skills include knowledge of C, C++, and/or Java under a Unix/Linux environment, or 2) computer engineering skills. Previous experience is desirable but not required.
Candidates will be working in a professional environment and contributing to systems that will be used throughout the U.S. Navy. Therefore, candidates must be dedicated to producing quality work results, and must be extremely attentive to detail.
-U.S. Citizenship and eligibility to obtain a U.S. Government granted security clearance is needed to be considered for employment.
-Employment is contingent on receiving an interim Secret clearance.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
-Candidates with an active DoD security clearances are strongly desired.
-Exposure to web development.
-Experience with real-time programming, cluster computing, numerical modeling, or signal processing.
-Experience with OpenGL, or other graphical software packages.
