Intern, Education

Child Trends is seeking Summer-semester research interns to assist the education research team across various projects related to healthy schools. The position will be located in our Bethesda, MD office and offer up to 20 hours per week.  

 Specific duties may include:   
  • Data entry.  
  • Assisting researchers by locating, retrieving, reading, and/or summarizing articles for literature reviews.  
  • Preparing materials for data collections.  
  • Assisting with proctoring surveys. 
  • Reviewing policies and news clippings related to school health.  
  • Tabling statistical output results (e.g., AS or STATA) in Excel.  
  • Updating databases.  
  • Other tasks as needed.   

Qualifications:   
  • Undergraduate college students (juniors or above), or Graduate students.  
  • 3.4 GPA or above.  
  • Experience and interest in education policy and child wellbeing.  
  • Detail orientation.  
  • Thorough command of the English language, both written and spoken.  
  • Experience with word processing (Word), spreadsheet (Excel), and presentation (PowerPoint) applications, as well as Internet proficiency, are required.  
  • Basic knowledge of Microsoft Access, an undergraduate statistics class, and familiarity with software for statistical analysis are desirable.  
  • The ability to work independently and the flexibility to handle multiple tasks.  
  • Previous office experience is preferred.   

Compensation:   
  • Undergraduate interns will be paid $18/hr. Graduate interns will be paid $20/hr.
