Supplier Engineering - Mechanical Engineering Summer Intern

About the Team:
 
Seagate is seeking a high-energy, collaborative, Mechanical engineering intern for our facility in Longmont, Colorado.

The role is to ensure our suppliers deliver quality components, materials and services. We work closely with Product Design Engineering, Materials Planning, Factory personnel and suppliers to identify highly manufacturable component designs and fabrication processes.
The intern for this position will focus on 2 areas in Cloud Systems: 1) qualification of mechanical components for new products; and 2) implementation of improved qualification processes.

A Day in the Life:

  • Qualify suppliers / components according to company standards.
  • Communicate and resolve supplier related problems as they occur.
  • Interface with Design Engineers, Materials Engineering and Material Planning to implement best in class solutions.
  • Writing / revising engineering and workmanship standards.
  • Demonstrate good judgment in evaluation of fabrication methods and manufacturing process controls.


About You:

  • Good technical writing and presentation skills.
  • Self-motivated individual with willingness to learn.

Your Experience Includes:

  • Currently enrolled in a Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Mechanical Engineering and must be returning to school in Fall 2020.
  • Proven success in a technical environment. (Internship & collegiate projects considered.)
  • Good understanding of how to apply statistics to engineering data.
  • Project management skills with the ability to balance multiple demands and thrive in a collaborative, fast paced environment.
