Our school is founded upon the belief that all students can achieve at high levels when provided with high expectations and a supportive learning environment. Buffalo Collegiate will build a team of adults who will work tirelessly to fulfill our mission so that all students are firmly on the path to excel in college and become our next generation of leaders.

We currently serve grades 4-6. We will add one grade per year until we graduate our first class of college ready twelfth graders in 2026. We will have grades 4-7 during the 2020-2021 school year. Buffalo Collegiate seeks authentic, dedicated, kind and intellectually curious individuals to join our team.


Job Description

The Teaching Fellow is a full-time teaching position for 4th-7th grade. This position provides a unique opportunity for talented individuals with limited or no teaching experience to explore the field of education and gain the hands-on practice and training necessary to become a successful classroom teacher. Teaching Fellows observe and learn from Master Teachers, co-teach with teacher-leaders, provide in-house substitute teaching coverage for teachers across content areas, and support content area teachers with tutoring, grading, and individual or small group instruction. Teaching Fellows will also offer teachers support with a variety of work inside and outside of the classroom, including leading enrichment classes, organizing student events, and developing mentoring relationships with students. Through full participation in summer and school-year professional development, as well as regular meetings with an instructional coach, Teaching Fellows will have the opportunity to gain the experience and support necessary to develop their teaching skills. By the end of the year, Teaching Fellows will be strong candidates for lead teaching positions.


Job Expectations

 Uphold the mission and vision of the school every second of every day.
 Execute school-wide systems and structures that maximize student learning.
 Reinforce a disciplined culture of high academic and behavioral standards, and provide students with frequent and accurate behavioral and academic feedback.
 Provide substitute teaching coverage for teachers within the school.
 Support students by providing one-on-one and small group tutoring and small group intervention and student support.
 Periodically plan and deliver instruction, gradually taking on more responsibility throughout the year.
 Meet regularly with a coach to implement feedback on lessons and instruction.
 Help content teachers with instruction, assessments, grading, and other classroom responsibilities.
 Communicate effectively with students, families, and colleagues.
 Participate in collaborative curriculum development, grade-level activities, and school-wide functions.
 Actively participate in all professional development sessions and weekly coaching sessions, including an annual three-week staff orientation and training during the summer.
 As appropriate, perform all duties expected of classroom teachers, including but not limited to:
 Implementing curricula and activities to meet academic standards.
 Designing and implementing assessments that measure progress towards academic standards.
 Using assessment data to refine curriculum and inform instructional practices.
 Help co-lead an advisory in the morning and afternoon.
 Supervise students during transitions, breakfast, and lunch.

 Strong time management, organizational, and problem solving skills; ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously and meet tight deadlines.
 Interest in performing a critical support role and the ability to excel in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial, results-oriented environment.
 Bachelor’s Degree required; a background in education is not required, though candidates should show a demonstrated passion for working with K-12 students.
 NYS teaching credential preferred but not required.
