Engineering and Maintenance Supervisor (Open)

The salary range reflected above is the normal hiring range for 2019. The full salary range, including longevity pay, is $31.42 - $44.47 per hour.

Administrative level highway engineering and maintenance work with complex technical and supervisory responsibilities in the County Public Works Engineering or Maintenance Division.An employee in this class is responsible for planning, developing and administering engineering and maintenance projects. Duties include supervising and providing technical guidance to staff; coordinating engineering and maintenance concerns with other agency officials, contractors and the public; managing maintenance software data tracking systems; and developing current and long range engineering plans and projects. The work is performed under the direction of assigned supervisory staff.These work environment factors are general in nature and may vary depending on the specific position being filled. CONSTANT: Sit; talk/speak; work around others; customer/public contact and work inside. FREQUENT: Near and midrange vision; hear within 5 feet; bend neck; right and left wrist turn; and work with others. OCCASIONAL: Lift and carry up to 20 pounds; far vision; depth perception; field of vision; hear up to 20 feet; move about; reach; walk; and drive.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS (Pass/Fail):
  • Seven (7) years as an Engineering Technician Principal; OR, a registered professional engineer licensed to practice Civil or Highway engineering in the State of Minnesota AND two (2) years of full-time paid verifiable administrative experience in road design and construction; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience as determined by the Human Resources Director.
  • Possession of a valid driver's license.

EXPERIENCE & TRAINING RATING - SUPPLEMENTAL QUESTIONNAIRE (100% of the scoring process):
Points will be awarded for job-related experience and education exceeding the minimum qualifications. Only experience occurring during the ten most recent years will be used in determining this assessment. Experience beyond ten years may be included on the application for purposes of meeting minimum qualifications or informing the hiring authority of your complete employment history.
