Building Maintenance Worker - Environmental Services (Open)

The salary range reflected above is the normal hiring range for 2019. The full salary range, including longevity pay, is $22.18 - $30.68 per hour.

Advanced building maintenance work at an assigned County facility.An employee in this class performs a variety of installation and repair work required to maintain the mechanical, electrical and structural elements of County facilities. Duties include maintaining plumbing, heating and ventilation systems and fixtures; and preventive maintenance and repair. The work is performed under the direction of assigned supervisory staff.These work environment factors are general in nature and may vary depending on the specific position being filled. CONSTANT: Near and midrange vision; depth perception; field of vision; visual accommodation; color vision; talk/speak; walk and work inside. FREQUENT: Lift and carry up to 50 pounds; far vision; hear; bend neck; climb stairs; feel; use fingers; grasp; handle; move about; reach; reach above shoulder; rotate neck; sit; stand; stoop/bend; twist at waist; turn wrists; extreme heat and noise; and work with or around others. OCCASIONAL: Lift and carry up to 100 pounds; climb ladders; crawl; crouch; kneel; maintain posture; squat; static neck position; taste/smell; exposure to weather; extreme wet or humid conditions; vibration; mechanical and electrical hazards; burns; confined spaces; elevated or slippery surfaces; moving objects; work alone; shift work; extended days and driving.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS (Pass/Fail):
  • Four (4) years full-time paid verifiable experience in the maintenance and repair of multi-unit, commercial/industrial or institutional buildings, including building management systems.
  • Possession of a valid driver's license.

LICENSE REQUIREMENTS:
Possession of appropriate level operating engineer's license as determined by the psi and horsepower ratings of the boiler(s) in assigned County facility in which the vacancy exists. (Not required for this position)

EXPERIENCE & TRAINING ASSESSMENT - (SUPPLEMENTAL QUESTIONNAIRE - 100% of the scoring process):
Points will be awarded for job-related experience and education exceeding the minimum qualifications. Only experience occurring during the ten most recent years will be used in determining this rating. Experience beyond ten years may be included on the application for purposes of meeting minimum qualifications or informing the hiring authority of your complete employment history.

  • January 8th, 2020 - Applicant screening will begin.

  • Week of February 10th, 2020 - Interviews to be conducted
