Summer 2020 Internship - Market Access and Market Research

Xcenda is excited to offer students the opportunity to apply for a ten-week summer internship focused on designing and implementing components of market research studies and advisory activities with a focus on US payers, patients, and/or providers. In addition, this internship will also offer the opportunity to support development of content for value propositions, promotional marketing materials, communication of health care economic information, and/or competitive landscape assessments.
 
Xcenda is a leading consulting company specializing in providing innovative services to help biopharmaceutical manufacturers maximize access for their products. Students will engage with Xcenda leaders and learn unique perspectives on managed markets and health care delivery. A stipend complementing some of the costs associated with travel and accommodation will be provided. This exciting learning experience is based in our Palm Harbor, Florida office.
 
WHAT YOU'LL LEARN
 
The summer intern will have the opportunity to design and/or implement components of US market research studies and support market access projects. In addition, the summer intern will “own” at least one internal project for the summer. 

On a day-to-day basis, the Strategic Market Access and Market Research Intern may:
  • Translate client business objectives into design and execution of marketing research and advisory activities
  • Develop content for value propositions, promotional marketing materials, communication of health care economic information, and/or competitive landscape assessments.
  • Research products in development and/or disease states
  • Conduct online research to document and monitor formulary and coverage policies for therapeutic areas and individual drugs
  • Design and draft research materials for both qualitative and quantitative projects
  • Pre-test online surveys and plan/conduct data analysis
  • Listen in on interviews, synthesize/analyze results
  • Write research reports in PowerPoint presentation-style deck formats
  • Design charts and graphics for optimal data presentation

WHAT YOUR BACKGROUND SHOULD LOOK LIKE:

  • Full-time student enrolled in a Master’s degree program in a related field (business administration, healthcare, marketing, marketing research, or other degrees commiserate with healthcare consulting and marketing research) or a PharmD program . 
  • A general understanding of pharmaceutical product development and marketing
  • A general working knowledge of US health insurance systems and payer types, including benefit structures and formulary design, as well as structural roles of organizations such as MCOs, PBMs, IHDSs, SPPs
  • Analytic, strategic and communication skills in order to translate research findings into actionable recommendations
  • Qualitative and quantitative research skills preferred
  • Confidence in interacting with internal teammates and management throughout the work process, from project initiation and needs assessment through to project recommendations and closure
