Photography/ Video Internship

Photography Internship Position Description

The Woodland Pattern photography intern works closely with key staff throughout the semester to assist in photo-documentation of Woodland Pattern’s poetry readings, concerts, art exhibitions, educational programs, special events, and related activities, as well as 2D/3D inventory. The position is open to undergraduate students studying photography and related visual arts; candidates with additional interests in contemporary poetry, experimental film, improvisational music, and/or arts education are highly encouraged to apply. Applicants should be willing and able to commit 8-10 hours per week and be available on evenings and weekends (when most events take place). Interns will have the opportunity to meet prominent visiting and local artists and to learn about the inner-workings of a community-based nonprofit, while gaining valuable work experience and receiving mentorship from WP Art Director Marla Sanvick (MFA, SAIC; BFA, MIAD), who will ensure assignments and educational goals are met, including the production of a final portfolio.

Timeline:
Week 1: Orientation, calendar planning, and goal setting
Week 1-4: Photography assignments
Week 5: Midterm conference
Week 5-7: Photography assignments
Week 8: Spring Break Recess
Week 9: End of semester conference
Week 10: Final Portfolio Due
