Lecturer & MSW Field Coordinator

Essential Job Functions

The Department of Social Work at the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay invites applications for a Lecturer and MSW Field Coordinator. This is a nine-month academic year position with two weeks of summer work associated with Field Coordination duties. The position is primarily responsible for coordinating all aspects of the field component of the MSW curriculum and teaching courses in the BSW and MSW Programs. The program has a strong team emphasis which includes team teaching, offers a competency-based education with a strengths perspective, and takes a proactive stance valuing diverse and inclusive perspectives.

This position includes the following responsibilities:
  • Coordinate all aspects of the Field component of the MSW Program curriculum.
  • Advise students. 
  • Develop and revise field-related section of the MSW Student Handbook and relevant forms and documents.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with new and current field agency sites throughout the NE Wisconsin region.
  • Develop policies for designating field placements for MSW students.
  • Initiate contact with field agencies and students to facilitate appropriate matches for field placements
  • Collaborate with undergraduate Field Coordinator and Child Welfare Coordinator on field issues.
  • Develop contractual arrangements with field agencies and field instructors.
  • Provide orientation and training for all MSW field instructors, students, and faculty field liaisons.
  • Regularly consult with Program faculty and agency contacts to resolve difficulties that may arise in student field placements.
  • Initiate student and field instructor evaluation of field practicum experience.
  • Develop and maintain a process for evaluating the MSW Field Program consistent with the Program’s accreditation and program review needs.
  • Communicate regularly with faculty regarding concerns identified with field practicum students, agency collaterals, or other field-related issues.
  • Retain, maintain and assure quality of field education agencies and experiences.
  • Create, plan, or participate in other field-related activities including meetings, workshops, and other events.
  • Develop and maintain field-related documentation in collaboration with the MSW Program Coordinator and BSW Field Coordinator.
  • Prepare field-related accreditation materials.
  • Attend and contribute to accreditation site visits.
  • Co-facilitate Field Committee meetings as lead with BSW Field Coordinator.
  • Attend all Social Work Program faculty meetings, MSW Admissions Committee meetings, and other meetings.
  • Teach MSW and BSW courses as assigned by the Program Chair.
  • Perform service to the unit and contribute to its ongoing development.
In addition, the successful candidate will be expected to display a demonstrated potential for excellence in teaching and a commitment to undergraduate education. The candidate should also possess communication and interpersonal skills sufficient to work effectively with a diverse array of students and colleagues.

Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Master’s degree in social work from CSWE-accredited program. Applicants with international social work degree: Copy of Formal Determination Letter from International Social Work Degree Recognition and Evaluation Service documenting degree equivalency to CSWE-accredited MSW degree
  • 2 years post-MSW practice experience
  • Eligible for certification or licensure through the WI DSPS.


PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Knowledge of the health and human/social services delivery network in Northeast Wisconsin
  • Prior social work teaching experience
  • 5 years post-MSW social work practice experience, particularly in administration and/or program development
  • Prior experience as an agency-based field educator or experience in administration of a social work field education program
  • Experience with school social work
  • Work experience in a culturally specific program

The successful candidate will have strong oral, written, interpersonal, and organizational skills, the ability to communicate with a diverse student population, demonstrated integrity and strong leadership, and the willingness to be part of a collaborative team both internally and externally. A demonstrated understanding of, and commitment to, anti-racism and anti-oppression practices, success at managing large workloads or projects simultaneously, working with a wide array of people, and having responsibilities to multiple constituencies.

Conditions Of Appointment

This position requires some evening and/or weekend hours. Partial contract for summer work. Travel is required to field sites.

Position is a full-time, 9-month, instructional Academic Staff appointment. Official transcripts of the highest degree achieved will be required of finalist(s). A criminal conviction investigation will be conducted on the finalist(s). Salary

Salary range of $52,000-$55,000.

This position is exempt from the overtime provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA).
