Public Health Educator I - Community (Duluth) (Open)

The salary range reflected above is the normal hiring range for 2019. The full salary range, including longevity pay, is $23.78 - $33.10 per hour.

Professional work educating community members and professionals regarding chemical use and abuse, use and harm reduction, improving outcomes for neonatal population and acting as a resource to provide professional development and training related to substance abuse and addiction.An employee in this class is responsible for assisting in the development, dissemination and evaluation of health education programs. Duties include assisting in identifying current trends affecting the health of a community, preparing public health data and information, promoting and conducting health education programs and services, and assisting in the local public health assessment and planning process. The work is performed under the direction of assigned supervisory staff.These work environment factors are general in nature and may vary depending on the specific position being filled. CONSTANT: Hear within 20 feet; talk/speak; and customer/public contact. FREQUENT: Lift and carry up to 10 pounds; near vision; climb stairs; grasp; maintain posture; move about; sit; stand; walk; work alone, with and around others; work inside; and drive. OCCASIONAL: Lift and carry up to 50 pounds; midrange aMINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS (Pass/Fail):
  • Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor's degree in health education, public health, communications or a closely related field.
  • Possession of a valid driver's license.

EXPERIENCE & TRAINING RATING (SUPPLEMENTAL QUESTIONNAIRE - 100% of the scoring process):
Points will be awarded for job-related experience and education exceeding the minimum qualifications. Only experience occurring during the ten most recent years will be used in determining this rating. Experience beyond ten years may be included on the application for purposes of meeting minimum qualifications or informing the hiring authority of your complete employment history.
