Junior Research Scientist, Computer Vision and Remote Sensing

The Computer Vision and Remote Sensing Group at Applied Research Associates, Inc. (ARA) is looking for applied scientists and engineers to join our team operating at the forefront of Computer Vision technology applied to satellite imagery. We work closely with world-renowned universities in computer vision, photogrammetry, and remote sensing to find innovative solutions to the most difficult real world problems in United States Intelligence and Defense communities. Our group is passionate about what we do and seek individuals that would share that passion.

As a valued team member in our group your responsibilities will include building computer vision algorithms and software while developing your code within a collaborative team-based environment. Additionally, you will present technical content to customers on occasion. 

Research Scientist Required Qualifications:
  • Eligibility to apply for and hold a U.S. security clearance (selected applicants will undergo a security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements at the time of employment)
  • MS/PhD in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering or similar technical field along
  • Strong algorithmic problem solving skills
  • High level of comfort with 3D coordinate systems and manipulating 3D data
  • Experience performing research or algorithm development in Computer Vision (including relevant PhD or MS thesis work). Please see our similar career postings in the Computer Vision and Remote Sensing group for greater experience levels (RESEA03202, RESEA03203)
  • Programming experience in Python, C, or C++
  • Team player with strong presentation and written / oral communication skills

Preferred Research Scientist Desirable Qualifications:
  • Experience with satellite imagery, aerial imagery, photogrammetry, or developing geospatial applications
  • Experience with SLAM, camera calibration, or stereo image processing
  • Experience with machine learning
  • Experience working on intelligence and DoD programs
  • Prior / existing security clearance
