Senior Full Stack Developer

Applied Research Associates, Inc. (ARA), Southeast Division (SED) in Raleigh, NC is seeking a Senior Full Stack Developer for a position to assist in the defining and developing of a cloud-based architecture for a physics-based computational system. This system will be deployed for use in the Department of Defense. Candidates should have a solid understanding of full stack web development and be passionate about participating in all stages of the software development lifecycle.

As a valued contributor to our project team, your responsibilities will include (1) helping to architect a computational environment for deployment in defense systems, (2) working alongside and (3) contributing to decision-making on the selection of elements within the software environment with an understanding of how decisions influence each other. Additionally, you will contribute to the integration of computational, analysis, and visualization capabilities into this environment.

Your day-to-day tasks will included helping to define our cloud-enabled web applications while helping to plan and execute the development of our system, which includes:
  • Exposing a physics-based computations as web-services
  • Deploy with cloud-enabling tools such as Kubernetes
  • Working on both the front- and back-end of the system
  • Work directly with our customers, colleagues and other ARA teams to integrate capabilities

Senior Full Stack Developer Citizenship Requirements:
Due to the nature of work, qualified candidates must be U.S. Citizens. Due to the work you’ll perform and interactions with intelligence community and DoD programs you will need to be eligible to apply for and hold a US Secret security clearance (selected applicants will undergo a security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements at the time of employment). However, if you have held an Active Secret clearance within the last two years we want to talk to you!

Senior Full Stack Developer Requirements:
  • B.S. in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience
  • Experience with at least two object oriented programming languages (Java, C++, Ruby, Python)
  • Familiarity with modern JavaScript JS frameworks (React, Vue.js, Angular)

Senior Full Stack Developer Preferences:
  • Experience with automated testing, both in your development workflow and through CI/CD
  • Experience deploying and integrating Commercial Off the Shelf (COTS) software into a cloud environment
