APPROVED FOR ACADEMIC CREDIT IN BUSINESS ADMINISTRATION AT UW-GREEN BAY

State Farm is the largest Insurance and Financial Services Company in the United States. Its business model includes an independent agency force of over 19,000 agents who own and operate their own agency. Each agency employs its own employees and runs a little differently. The Tiona Petrouske State Farm office is young and full of vitality! We are growing at a superior pace, and we are looking for interns who are interested in learning more about the insurance industry and how we change lives every single day. Our office is dedicated to supporting the entrepreneurial mindset, and we give our team member the support they need to one day run their own agency while having the opportunity to learn the business and earn a living in a current agents office. Our customers choose us because we are trust worthy, empathetic, and believe customer service excellence is our top priority.
Our Business Interns have the opportunity to learn and develop their skill set at our office. Internship 1 is focused primarily on our marketing side of the business. We play in a vast array of markets, including Property and Casualty Insurance, Health and Life Insurance, Banking (i.e. all things sold at a traditional bank), and Securities and Investments. Our market can help support the following Business Studies Business Analysis, Entrepreneurship, Finance, General Business, Human Resource Management, Management, and Marketing. At the end of the internship, you will have learned and seen in application the following skills: critical thinking, problem-solving, interpersonal, communication, quantitative, and computer skills.

Community Outreach Events

We attend events to help inform the community about who we are, and how we can help them! Events such as Walks/Run with animal shelters, Fundraisers, Wedding Shows, Pet Expo’s, etc.

Internship Application

A solid foundation for our events program has been developed and been running for 3 years. The student will receive this annual calendar which includes details of timing, costs, asking for subsidy money from the corporate office, and the budget we will work within. They will be asked to research new events we may be missing, ideas for new target markets, prepare suggestions for how to spend the budget for promotional give-aways and marketing. They will be expected to attend the event when able- where they will be able to see these events are often full of entrepreneurs who are also attending to showcase their business. At the event they will learn how to appeal to the interest of attendees, how to capture lead data in the limited amount of time you may have, and learn from other vendors on what seems to work and not work to allow them to make adjustments to future events. They will learn the difference between a lead and a prospect. After the event, they will learn how to do a post mortem on the event. What worked, what didn’t work, how can we do better? They will prepare the lead data to be useful to the office, and help execute the follow up with the leads.

Social Media

We are leading the insurance industry with our online platforms, and welcome the use of technology and social media to support our customers and client growth.

 Internship Application

The insurance industry can function like prehistoric times when it comes to social media. There are challenges that prevent many offices from playing in this space. Our office has chosen to not only play, but desires to lead. The student will learn how to work within regulation guidelines to follow, branding rules, and corporate do’s and don’ts. The student will be provided an online platform called “Hearsay” which will allow them to schedule template posts. They will research my peers, and learn how to build on good ideas already established, and in some cases making good ideas great ideas. They will have the opportunity to expand on our current strategy, offering their suggestions and ideas to further explore and expand our abilities in this segment.

Quotes for Good Program

We select local Non-Profit organizations and help build awareness about our interest in supporting their organization by providing donations through referrals from their organization. We currently use our Quotes for Good program with Happily Ever After Pet Sanctuary, Apple Valley Pit Crew, House of Hope, and the Salvation Army. This year we are adding the ringing of the Bells to help support the Salvation Army with our Good Neighbear Costume! This is how it works: If someone adopts a pet at Happily Ever After, they share that State Farm is does not discriminate against any breed of dog and sends their customer our way for the opportunity to quote their business, we donate $10 to their organization.

Internship Application

State Farm officially trademarked this program in February 2019. Our office has been trying to develop this program for about 2 years prior to this date, and has proven a difficult concept for the consumer to grasp. While we are making progress, we are ready to take this program to the next level. The student will help develop the program with the organizations we’ve already established. In some cases, they will work at the organization to educate the volunteers, build the materials they need to advertise the program, and be closer to the source to help identify the pain points and challenges we are seeing. This will provide them the opportunity to provide feedback and strategies to help us overcome the obstacles we face.

Internship Credit

To earn 3 course credits towards an internship, you will attend the program for 10-12 hrs a week. Once you graduate from this internship level, you will be qualified to apply for the Paid Internship 2 Course. Paid summer and holiday opportunities available.

 Prepare for Internship 2

As our interns grow with our office and are ready for more responsibility, the role will evolve to help support our internal customers and team. We want to support your entrepreneurial spirit, and will guide you through the licensing process to be able to become an industry expert. Upon completing this level, you will be considered for a part-time or full-time position within the office.

Our Vision

Our Agency’s vision is to be a connected part of the community through providing customers with positive experience through honest services based on integrity, building strong relationships, which in turn results in a strong referral base clientele, and continued generations of family customers. We aspire to be recognized and greeted like a good neighbor who is always there when they are needed.
