Manufacturing Engineer Co-op/Intern


Job Title:           Manufacturing Engineering Co-op or Engineering Intern

Work Schedule: M-F

Hours/Week:   40

Job Description: Barnes Group Inc – Associated Spring Division has an exciting and rewarding internship opportunity at our Milwaukee, WI location. At Associated Spring, our Interns are an integral part of the Engineering Team and are provided with in-depth training and empowered to seek opportunities for innovation and continuous improvement. The interns hired for this position will have the opportunity to gain insight and experience learn and understanding of our operation

 

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

  • Participate and Assist in BES/6S/Kaizen projects
  • Assist in completing a A3 Project
  • Special Order floor Layout
  • GEMBA Board Redesign
  • Coordinating, Planning and Running Manufacturing Processes and Layouts
  • Investigate, Analyzing, Implementing and Improving Manufacturing processes to improve Safety, Quality, and Efficiency
  • Work closely with engineering team & production support group to evaluate and improve manufacturing methods, product design, fabrication, assembly and quality control.

  • QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Desire to learn more about materials and materials analysis techniques.
  • Computer proficiency in a Windows environment utilizing Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, & Outlook) as well as Minitab, AutoCAD. 
  • Excellent mechanical aptitude; ability to use standard measuring tools such as Vernier calipers, micrometers and other mechanical gages.
  • A ‘can-do’ attitude and a willingness to work hard and learn every day.

  • Detail oriented


  • Eagerness to get involved in hands-on projects while working with experienced, professional engineers.
  • Must possess the motivation to grow both academically and professionally in a corporate setting.

 

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:

  • Junior or Senior level in good standing in Engineering course work, ideally leading to a Mechanical, Industrial or Manufacturing Degree from a 4-year College or University
