About Our Group
Our group develops advanced concepts and designs for productization in Seagate’s hard drives. We utilize new and existing design concepts to meet the new product requirements.  We also work closely with the drive design team to integrate the new design and solve design and manufacturing issues. We also work closely with external suppliers on design optimization and manufacturability challenges.

About the role:
We are looking for an Electrical Research and Development Engineer to support development in the Recording Head Technology organization.

In this role you will:

  • Support the development of the electrical roadmap of the Trace Gimbal Assembly to define future requirements for electrical performance in coordination with tranducer and preamp development teams.
  • Complete Reader SNR and system level modeling to identify design and feature improvements to support new performance and reliability requirements.
  • Design and optimize interconnect read / write signal paths for best in class signal integrity and high speed performance.
  • Collaborate with the transducer design teams to integrate new features and sensors into the recording system.
  • Develop solutions to meet the electrical performance and reliability roadmaps and demonstrate improvements through simulation and prototype development.
  • Support new failure mode hypotheses and validation of solutions.
  • Perform laboratory experiments to address performance and reliability issues and identify solutions.
  • Collaborate with suppliers and supply chain to develop and mature design/material/process changes to meet performance and reliability requirements
