Intern-Logistics Engineering #3523

Position Description:

The General Dynamics Land Systems Intern Program provides an opportunity for students looking to start or continue the transition from academia into industry. Our three-month internship assignments provide compensation based on area of study and class standing, and have the students embedded in key functional areas of our business, getting real-world experience and mentorship from seasoned professionals.

Logistics Test & Evaluation (LT&E) Engineering:

Logistics Engineering – Intern duties will involve participating in Logistics Engineering activities on Tracked or Wheeled Vehicle Programs. The intern will work alongside a Logistics Engineer (LE) or Logistics Project Lead to obtain exposure to elements of Integrated Logistics Support (ILS) which produce Logistics products that enable operation and repair of vehicles by field/test support employees and the military. The intern will support ILS activities to include project planning/management, logistics design, maintenance planning, maintenance task analysis, diagnostic/troubleshooting task analysis, spare parts analysis and provisioning of spares, technical publications development, hands-on validation and verification of procedures in our on-site maintenance shop, Logistics software development, and operations support. The intern will participate in internal production meetings, conduct analysis and create technical data (in accordance with Military Standards and Army Regulations) to be used in Logistics products, and participate in and observe procedure validation/verification alongside external customers and users.

Position Requirements:

- Candidate must be pursuing a Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science or other engineering disciplines
- Candidate must successfully pass pre-employment drug screen and background check
- Must demonstrate good written and oral communication skills
- Proficiency with MS Office applications including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
- Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment
- Demonstrated effective time management skills
- Some travel (<5%) may be required
- Candidates must be at least 18 years old
- Must be a U.S. Person (i.e. a lawful permanent resident of the U.S.)
- Students must be able to complete a minimum of a full time, 3-month assignment
