Intern-Engineering Quality Assurance #3509

Position Description:

The General Dynamics Land Systems Intern Program provides an opportunity for students looking to start or continue the transition from academia into industry. Our three-month internship assignments provide compensation based on area of study and class standing, and have the students embedded in key functional areas of our business, getting real-world experience and mentorship from seasoned professionals.
The Engineering Quality Assurance Intern assignment will allow the right candidate to perform in the widely varied activities in EQA, including short assignments in many aspects of EQA including Supplier QA, Logistics Product QA, Quality Vehicle Systems, Calibration, Software Quality Assurance, and Inspection.
- Participate in vehicle testing and checkout activities on Abrams and Stryker platforms to identify issues, and develop a better understanding of our end vehicle products. 
- Assist with test procedure development and results reporting.
- Analyze Material Requisitions and apply quality requirements, review Vendor Acceptance Test procedures and related data to determine product acceptability.
- Work with cognizant aspects of Engineering, Supply Chain Management, and the vendor to resolve any identified discrepancies.
- Review logistics source data and identify and resolve issues.
- Perform TM task review and report and resolve issues with the logistics community.
- Understand and participate in logistics metrics and trend reporting.
- Understand the requirements for the ED&T calibration system and develop familiarity with the calibration database. 
- Participate in calibration recall and vendor shipment activities. 
- Be involved in different aspects of Software development including review of requirements, design, code, and test products, process auditing, project planning, and other project involvement.
- Participate in MRB activities, obsolete material disposition, and develop an understanding of the Inspection activities of EQA.
- Other aspects of EQA or QPE may be assigned as timing and activity performance allow. Focus may be on less than complete EQA coverage based on intern interest and workload

Position Requirements:

Minimum Requirements:
- Pursuing a Bachelors degree from an accredited 4-year university or college (ME, CE, EE, CS or related degree program)
- Candidate must be able to implement the activities identified above in the detailed work description.
- Must have attained at least a Junior status based on the university/college's class standing requirements at start of internship.
- Candidates must be at least 18 years old
- Must be a U.S. Person (i.e. a lawful permanent resident of the U.S.)
- Candidates must successfully pass standard pre-employment screens and must provide an original transcript from their school before their first day of employment.
- Students must be able to complete a minimum of a full time, 3-month assignment
- Must pass ASR to enter military vehicles.

Desired/preferred qualifications:
- Engineering Student
- Minimum overall GPA of 3.0 is preferred
- Strong mechanical problem solving skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Office suite
- Strong communications skills both written and verbal, and the ability to interact with all organizational levels
- Able to work in a shop environment
