Job Summary:

The purpose of the Drop-In Child Care center is to provide a safe space for children whose families are performing business activities with the Government service center and needs a short term child care solution. This position fills in for teachers and assistant teachers in the drop-in child care program as needed on a daily basis. The position implements classroom activities related to the daily lesson plan. This position assists in maintaining a safe, stimulating, and nurturing leaning environment. This position is also responsible for ensuring constant supervision of children in the child care center which is for up to three hours at a time for each child per day.

Job Responsibilities:

Responsible for classroom in Teacher’s absence, at the direction of the program director.
·Ability to work with infant, toddler, preschool, and/or school age children.
·Maintains a safe, stimulating, and nurturing learning environment to provide all children with a positive experience.
· Implement lessons and activities, material preparation and clean up for/from activities.
· Daily cleaning responsibilities; i.e. clean and disinfect toys and tables.
Instruct children in proper use of materials.
·Assist with snacks, toileting and diaper changes.
·  Observe and supervise children during free play activities, snacks, and naps.
·  Assist children in resolving conflicts to meet the developmental needs of children.
· Assist and guide children in completing activities and projects.

Job Requirements:

Education and Experience:

· Current Child Development Associate Certification or equivalent college credits (12)
· Six months of experience working in a childcare setting.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
·Knowledge of child development from sixteen months to ten years.
·Knowledge of health and safety precautions, sanitation/cleaning techniques, and emergency response.
· Demonstrated experience working in a team environment
· Skills in managing and guiding children’s behavior.
· Ability to work and communicate effectively with a diverse population, parents, children, and other professionals.
·Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and meet the high level of physical movement needed to care for young children.
