Material Science/Process Control Internship

Essential Job Duties/Responsibilities   
  • Analyze defects on Pioneer finished products by utilizing microscopes and other material science equipment
  • Includes receiving defective samples from fellow Pioneer employees, discussing defect as it relates to all process details, and performing testing to uncover root cause.  
  • Perform monthly lab testing and generate reports for multiple Pioneer facilities as needed
  • Includes material testing such as corrosion testing, cross sectional thickness of coating, Microhardness and wear resistance testing. 
  • Perform prototype and development work relating to process control, new product development, and improvement of current Pioneer processes
  • Includes comparative studies between products and process mapping related
  • Hours 10 – 30 hrs per week (Monday, Wednesday, Friday, between the hours of 7AM to 4PM)
  • Start ASAP
 
 
 
Physical/Environmental/Chemical Hazards:
  • Lifting up to 55 lbs. unassisted.
  • Sharp parts, sharp tooling, heavy carts, occasional hot and cold temperature and humidity levels, heat from ovens, moderate noise levels, limited hand and air tool use, compressed air (must use hearing protection).
  • Must be able to differentiate between color variance.
  • Potential splash exposure near process lines.
  • Responsibilities are repetitive in nature.
  • Various chemicals used in process.
