The selected candidate will be provided practical learning experiences and training in various Milwaukee Metropolitan Sewerage District (District) projects.  A first-semester co-op is expected to become familiar with the District's water reclamation and wastewater conveyance facilities and gain knowledge of project management procedures by working in the field, and in the office, under the supervision of a Senior Project Manager. Each succeeding term the co-op will be asked to complete more complex tasks, ultimately leading to managing a small project.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

The student will acquire experience working with professional engineers for the District's water reclamation facilities and conveyance systems. The co-op will assist in all phases of a project, including project development, schedule management, engineering analysis, design, bidding, and construction. The student will help to ensure that projects meet the operational, environmental, and long-term goals of the District. Additionally, project management software will be utilized and the opportunity to manage small projects and tasks provided.  

Qualifications:

The student should be currently pursuing a civil or environmental engineering degree.  Must be able to walk over uneven terrain and up & down stairs while wearing a hard hat, safety glasses, and safety shoes. Valid driver's license is required.

Supplemental Information:

This co-op position runs for three nonconsecutive 16-week terms. The student will begin the first co-op term in the spring of 2020, return in the fall of 2020, and end in the summer of 2021. Must remain a student throughout the duration of the terms.  
  
Each term is full-time, Monday through Friday.
