Development Communications Internship


The John Michael Kohler Arts Center, a nationally acclaimed visual and performing arts complex, is seeking a Development Communications Intern for the spring semester of 2020. The intern will meet with volunteers, donors, and other Arts Center stakeholders to conduct interviews and write short profiles that will be used to celebrate donor generosity in various print and social media formats. The intern will identify photos to accompany the stories or will work with the staff photographer to schedule photo shoots. This person also work closely with the Marketing department to revise the writing and make sure it meets Arts Center standards and content deadlines.


DUTIES:
  • Set up and conduct interviews assigned by Director of Development.
  • Write profiles that will be used in various formats and do relevant photo research or scheduling.
  • Work with Marketing to revise the profiles as needed per Arts Center protocols.


QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Strong writing and communication skills; preferably a journalism major
  • Experience with interviewing subjects and creating succinct, informative stories with quick turn-around time
  • Ability to accept constructive criticism and expedite the revision process
  • Commitment to being a team player  
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to work with people of all ages and backgrounds
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite

 
ESTIMATED HOURS/WEEK: 

8-16 hours as the intern’s schedule permits.

 
Start and end dates are flexible, but ideally, the position would start in early January and run through the end of May.
