SUPERVISION
 
General supervision is provided by the Equipment Services Shift Supervisor.
  1. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:All behaviors comply with the Code of Conduct & Rules of Behavior outlined in chapter 8 of the General Government Policies and Procedures Manual..
  2. Adheres to assigned work schedule as outlined in city and department attendance policies and procedures.
  3. Inspect damaged equipment; determine materials needed for repair; establish design and fabrication layouts; perform welding repairs or fabrications and; maintain records of work performed.
  4. Operate and maintain a variety of equipment including welders, grinders, cutting torches, floats, edger's and other similar equipment and machinery in repairing and installing pipe, metal and other materials.
  5. Repair damaged refuse containers on collection routes as requested; dispose of refuse containers which cannot be repaired; salvage usable materials and dispose of waste.
  6. Maintain and repair welding unit and vehicles; maintain inventory of welding equipment and supplies; purchase supplies as necessary.
  7. Perform a full range of welding work including structural fabrication, installation, repair and maintenance tasks.
MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS:
EDUCATION
 
          High school diploma or GED.
 
 EXPERIENCE
 
          Two years of increasingly responsible experience in welding fabrication and
          design.
 
 LICENSES AND CERTIFICATES
 
           Possession of a valid Class C Texas driver's license.
 
          Must obtain a Class A commercial driver's license within 6 months of employment
         as a condition of continued employment. Failure to obtain a Class A driver's
          license within 6 months of employment will result in non-disciplinary termination.
 
          Possess AWS certification as a Certified Welder with (D1.1) (Structural  
          Certification).
 
WORK SCHEDULE
 
          Monday – Friday from 6:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. with some overtime, weekends and rotating on call duty required.
 
 TESTING required only if interviewed
 
          Must be prepared for a welding test immediately following the interview.
