Service Center Operations Intern
Position Summary
Learn and develop your operations knowledge and skillset in a service center distribution environment. This position will provide exposure to all areas within the service center operations, including; inbound, outbound, and production areas. The intern experience combines hands on learning with the opportunity to lead and interact with multiple departments in order to develop operational leadership capabilities.
This position will reside in Bensenville, IL which is the location of our Service Center.
This person will be a key leader within the regional fulfillment team and will report up to the Service Center Operations Manager.
Responsibilities
- Learn and lead all operation activities within the warehouse.
- Receive exposure to track, monitor, and drive Key Performance Indicators such as safety, OTD%, Past Due backlog, inventory accuracy, productivity.
- Drive standard work and continuous improvement to create efficiencies in operations.
- Partner with Service Center Operations Manager to determine labor needs in order to create a balanced and efficient shift to meet production needs.
- Work with the management team to promote employee engagment by initiating and/or facilitating team building events that also support our community .
Experience and Skill Required
- Currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s degree program related to Operations Management or Business Management field.
- Strong academic record with minimum overall GPA of 3.0
- Demonstrated proficiency in time and project management.
- Team oriented with the ability to influence others.
