Human Resources Coordinator

Department: Human Resources Coordinator
Salary Range: $18.46/hr. to $26.42/hr.
Status: Full Time Monday - Friday
 
PURPOSE AND SUMMARY
Performs daily clerical and front desk responsibilities as necessary to assist in the efficient operation of the highly organized Human Resources Department, County Administrator and County Board Chair Offices.
 
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
Assists Human Resources Team and Executive Assistant to the County Administrator as requested. Handles confidential documents with discretion. Maintains the confidentiality of the offices. Acts in furtherance of the County’s interests. Answers the main telephone and directs the calls as appropriate. Greets members of the public and employees. Answers questions and distributes necessary information regarding insurance coverage, contract interpretation and benefit provisions; works independently  or seeks assistance from Human Resources Team. Prepares for new employee orientations. Onboards new employees to policies and procedures and benefits provided by the county, along with assisting in the completion of original HR required documents. Organizes new employee files and enters information in the JD Edwards system.  Completes verification of employment requests. Coordinates background checks. Reviews individual employee claims for unemployment insurance benefits, maintains records and provides information to Unemployment Compensation Office for processing claims. Maintains department tables of organization. Sorts, opens and distributes Human Resources Department mail. Orders and maintains department supplies. Prepares PowerPoint training presentations. Schedules meetings, appointments and preparation of associated materials. Organizes Human Resources training events and tracks attendance. Maintains employee Human Resources files, discipline and grievance logs and job descriptions for all positions in Sheboygan County.  Creates and updates reports and forms. 
 
 
 
Assists with coordinating appointments of members to advisory committees, boards, and commissions by soliciting recommendations from appropriate groups, submitting information to the County Board Chair and/or County Administrator, and preparing appointment documents for confirmation by the County Board. Assists with in providing information to members of the general public, the media, and representatives of other governmental units; responds to inquiries or directs them to the appropriate department. Make presentations to groups when requested.
 
Performs a wide variety of tasks and assumes other regular responsibilities as assigned.
 
QUALIFICATIONS
High school diploma and two or more years experience with proficient typing and clerical skills. Prior Human Resources office experience preferred. Associates or Bachelors degree preferred. Ability to read, comprehend, and follow instructions carefully and accurately, and work independently and reliably with limited direct supervision.  Advanced skills in using office software including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher, Visio, and JD Edwards preferred.  Demonstrated excellent written, verbal telephone communication skills. Outstanding organizational skills, including the ability to organize and maintain work flow, filing system, and calendars. Ability to work effectively with a wide variety of people using good judgment, professionalism, and courtesy.
