Requirements (Education, Experience, Licensure, Certification):

  • High school diploma or GED and 1 year of work related experience.
Preferred Qualifications:

  • Associate's degree and 1 to 3 years of work related experience, including 2 years of Juvenile Court work experience.
Special Working Conditions and/or Hazards:

  • Employees work indoors and are protected from weather conditions or contaminants, but not necessarily occasional temperature changes. 
Job Duties:

  • Prepares and presents custody, visitation, and dependency dockets, including defining multiple docketing issues. 
  • Coordinates paperwork on concurrent custody, visitation, dependency, and delinquency cases.
  • Assures proper handling of services, transports heavy files, and ensures that filing is completed accurately and in a timely manner in order to ensure the meaningful review of cases. 
  • Processes assigned custody, visitation, and dependency dockets, including performing quality control regarding entries, case tracking and forms. 
  • Ensures that absent parties are notified in a timely manner. 
  • Provides follow-through on support orders and coordinates information regarding appointment of counsel to ensure timely planning and review of cases. 
  • Assists assigned Magistrate in the courtroom by performing specified tasks to enhance the efficient operation of the courtroom and orderly case flow. 
  • Assists other Magistrates assigned to the custody, visitation, and dependency dockets on an as-needed basis.
  • Coordinates docketing issues, past due reports and messages between the Magistrates, clients and professional staff. 
  • Assists with departmental operations on as needed basis, including, but not limited to, answering reception desk telephone, assisting walk-ins, processing incoming mail, scheduling hearings, etc.
  • Handles additional departmental duties as assigned, e.g. computer data entry, word processing, processing and scanning entries, scanning and delivering official filings, etc. 
  • Demonstrates regular and predictable attendance.
