Commissioning Agent Intern

Are you interested in the engineering disciplines, but need more exposure? Are you passionate about electromechanical devices and how they are controlled?

SMMA is seeking an entry-level Commissioning Agent Intern to join SMMA’s Building Commissioning team, a talented group of engineers and problem-solvers. This position involves working directly with the Commissioning Department Manager while closely collaborating with design experts across SMMA’s integrated and multidisciplinary firm.

Under the guidance of our Commissioning Department Manager, this opportunity provides direct access to SMMA’s integrated knowledge base, projects of all scales and sizes, and hands-on experience. We hope to open the door to a potential career in building commissioning.

Requirements:
  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Architectural Engineering, or equivalent experience
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and Excel
  • Organized and adept at note-taking
  • Comfortable in assisting with the Manager of Commissioning’s clerical tasks
  • Strong work ethic: candidate must take initiative on all tasks
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Minor physical labor: candidate must be able to climb ladders and use a tape measure
  • Candidate must be comfortable working on active construction sites and using digital tools to work outside of the office
  • Candidate must possess a valid driver’s license for travel to project sites – access to personal automobile a plus
