Engineering Technician (Hibbing) (Open)

The salary range reflected above is the normal hiring range for 2019. The full salary range, including longevity pay, is $20.71 - $28.51 per hour.

Routine technical engineering work of a moderately difficult nature in the Road and Bridge Engineering Division.An employee in this class performs routine technical and manual tasks as assigned in the drafting, surveying and inspection work of the Road and Bridge Engineering Division. Duties include participating as a survey crew member, conducting routine field inspection test procedures, and performing general drafting work in the preparation of plans, layouts and simple application of engineering specifications. The work is performed under the direction of an engineering technician of a higher class.These work environment factors are general in nature and may vary depending on the specific position being filled. CONSTANT: Far vision; hearing within 5 feet and up to 20 feet; exposure to weather; moving objects; traffic; and work outside. FREQUENT: Lift and carry up to 20 pounds; midrange vision; depth perception; field of vision; color vision; crouch; grasp; handle; move about; stand; stoop/bend; talk/speak; walk; extreme noise; vibration; mechanical hazards; and work with and around others. OCCASIONAL: Lift and carry up to 50 pounds; near vision; visual accommodation; balance; bend neck; climb stairs; feel; use fingers; kneel; maintain posture; reach; reach above shoulder; rotate neck; sit; squat; elevated and slippery surfaces; work alone; extended days and driving.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS (Pass/Fail):
  • Two years of full-time paid experience in civil engineering technology; OR two years of post-secondary education from an accredited college or university in civil engineering technology or a related field; OR equivalent education/experience as determined by the Employee Relations Director.
  • Possession of a valid driver's license.

EXPERIENCE & TRAINING RATING - (SUPPLEMENTAL QUESTIONS 100% of scoring the process):
Points will be awarded for job-related experience and education exceeding the minimum qualifications. Only experience occurring during the ten most recent years will be used in determining this assessment.
