Assistant Professor - Clinical, Counseling or Human Developmental Psychology

United States Air Force Academy, Colorado Springs. The Department of Behavioral Sciences & Leadership (DFBL) anticipates filling one fulltime faculty position (Psychology) at the Assistant Professor level. Candidates must have completed an earned doctorate with a research-based dissertation in Clinical Psychology, Counseling Psychology, Human Development, or a related field in Psychology. Ideal candidates should have teaching experience in psychology at the undergraduate level. They should be willing to regularly teach introductory undergraduate courses in one or more of these disciplines and to mentor undergraduate research.

The USAF Academy does not offer tenure. Initial faculty appointments are for 3 years. At the end of the second year, the original appointment may be extended for an additional 3 years (6 years total) with the possibility of successive extensions. This appointment system provides long-term employment stability for reappointment-eligible faculty with extensions occurring with at least 3 years remaining on a current appointment. Extensions are based on an assessment of performance, Air Force and departmental needs, and financial constraints. Historically, 95% of eligible faculty are extended, and the average length of time on faculty for those currently serving in this system exceeds 12 years. Initial appointment to this position begins 25 June 2020 and ends 30 June 2023, unless further re-appointments are issued.
