Pre Kindergarten Teacher

JOB QUALIFICATIONS: To apply a candidate must have or be eligible to obtain a current Alaska Teacher Certificate issued by the Alaska Department of Education with an endorsement in Elementary Education. Must have an endorsement in Early Childhood Education, or have completed 12 credit hours of Early Childhood coursework. Must be able to design instruction to meet individual needs. Must be able to motivate students while providing a well-managed learning environment. Experienced in the use of developmentally appropriate instructional strategies. Knowledgeable about the 5 domains of early childhood development as defined by the State of Alaska Early Learning Guidelines. Must be flexible but organized, and willing to continue learning and pursue opportunities for additional training.

JOB DESCRIPTION: Teacher will plan and implement a Pre-K program designed to prepare eligible Title I students for entry into Kindergarten. The teacher will provide, through collaboration with other staff members, the planning, delivery and assessment of instruction using research-based strategies and interventions. Teacher will utilize positive but firm classroom management techniques and encourage responsible behavior. Teacher should be skilled at working with young children, adults and community members. Teacher will develop and implement parent involvement activities to engage parents of Title I eligible students. The teacher will be responsible for data collection, to progress monitor student achievement and keep student database information up to date. Requires a willingness to teach in an online and blended format. The teacher will work under the direct supervision of the building administrator. There may be other duties as assigned.

CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: Must have a current Alaska Teacher Certificate issued by the Alaska Department of Education with an endorsement in Early Childhood Education or an endorsement in Elementary Education and must have completed 12 semester hours of college credit in early childhood development.
