Engineering Intern

The Engineering Intern would be responsible supporting the Engineering Team in updating AutoCAD Master Facility Drawings, capital projects, and process and continuous improvement projects and initiatives.

Activities could include, but not be limited to; updating facility and equipment layout drawings in AutoCAD, creating part and assembly drawings, research and planning of projects either on their own or supporting an Engineering team member, and working with an Operations or Engineering team member on various projects to address safety concerns, reduce downtime or waste, and improve efficiency.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
  • Working knowledge of AutoCAD to produce mechanical drawings, layout and concept drawings for equipment, processes and systems.
  • With guidance and support; have the ability to analyze a production packaging line, production processes, or facility system, using problem solving, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement tools and techniques with a focus of engineered solutions to resolve ongoing issues.
  • Provide a summary report of an assessment or analysis of a process or situation, and suggest resolutions to resolve the opportunity. Assistance in generating a review or summary report to the customer or shareholder of the improvement.
  • Assist with documentation control of facility, engineering and equipment drawings, specifications and literature.
  • Assist the Engineering, Maintenance and production areas with engineering support.
 
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Basic proficiency with AutoCAD
  • Must possess basic analytical, problem solving, troubleshooting and conceptual skills that would support the engineering process.
  • Must possess the ability to work within project and task timelines and meet deliverables for schedule, cost and quality of work.
  • Completeness and accuracy of work is a requirement of the position.
  • Preference will be given to an individual with the ability to perform more in-depth conceptual and engineering type functions, as it related to developing, engineering, designing and implementing a concept or idea, which would improve equipment or process operation or their integration into an existing system or production line.
 
OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
  • With direction, take a concept or idea and bring it to a viable conclusion that can be implemented into a process or system.
  • Ability to bring new and innovative ideas to existing processes or new concepts.
 
 
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
An individual in an Electrical, Industrial, Manufacturing, Mechanical or related Engineering course pursuing an Associate or Bachelor’s degree, should have the required skills to perform the basic job functions of this position.
