Summer 2020 Environmental, Health, and Safety Intern
POSITION OVERVIEW:
The Environmental, Health, and Safety Intern will directly support the Environmental, Health, and Safety Specialist with the environmental and safety compliance programs at our sites.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Maintain the corrective action log
- Perform incident and injury data trend analyses
- Compile compliance management calendars
- Perform gap assessments and program reviews
- Update job hazard analyses
- Support other functions as needed within the Environmental, Health, and Safety department
- Regular daily attendance is required. Eight hours per day, or as directed by supervisor, is required.
- Conforms to the dress code, the workspace, and the building guidelines, as well as all other company policies.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE DESIRED:
- Currently enrolled in an occupational safety, construction safety, industrial hygiene or an environmental science program at a Junior, Senior or post-graduate level.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook
- Detail-oriented
PHYSICAL DEMAND REQUIREMENTS:
- Perform long periods of sitting, standing, or walking throughout the day
- Lift, carry, push, & pull up to 25lbs. and capable of operating office equipment
- May require occasional moderate lifting (25-45lbs.)
- Reading, writing, mathematics, and time management skills are required
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Flexsteel is committed to ensuring the health and safety of their workforce. Although this job
assignment is primarily within an office, some of the tasks required in this position are to take
place within the manufacturing facility, where personnel can expect to be occasionally exposed
to heat and humidity, chemical products, dust, odors, oils, fumes, and noise.
Job tasks may require incumbent to perform tasks outdoors. Candidate will be required to work
near powered industrial trucks and equipment. Work will require the candidate to wear personal
protective equipment as provided and adhere to all facility environmental, health, and safety rules
and requirements.
