Program Investment and 2-1-1 Manager

Position Summary

Manage all primary areas of responsibility within Brown County United Way's Impact Framework which is comprised of three interconnected levels of influence: Program Investment, Impact Initiatives, and Advocacy. Work closely with United Way staff and volunteers; build and maintain effective, collaborative relationships with multi-sectoral community partners and influencers to help promote and advance the mission of Brown County United Way.
 
Primary Responsibilities
·        As part of a team, assist in the identification, development and implementation of strategies, solutions, and the investment of resources (e.g., funding, staff, volunteer time, in-kind support, etc.) relating to the Impact Framework, with a particular focus on Program Investment and 2-1-1.
·        Manage Brown County United Way's Program Investment Portfolio.
·        Provide leadership and support for assigned projects within the areas of Impact Initiatives and Advocacy.
·        Manage the Brown County United Way's 2-1-1 program, including but not limited to supervision of 2-1-1 support staff, assurance of database quality and adherence to applicable standards, cultivating and maintaining positive relationships with 2-1-1 colleagues and partners locally and statewide, and serving on relevant 2-1-1 Wisconsin committees.
·        Develop and maintain a "management system" for assigned volunteer committees and projects: cultivate strategically aligned volunteerism to help support the advancement of organizational goals related to primary areas of responsibility; recruit and train new members; foster consistent engagement; organize learning opportunities, etc.
·        Utilize qualitative and quantitative data to inform decisions. Research best practices.
·        Prepare summary reports on grant proposals to aid in decision-making and community reporting.
·        Develop an understanding of needs and issues impacting communities and coordinate resources and partners to respond.
·        Provide grant writing assistance to the internal grants team (led by the Vice Presidents of Community Investment and Resource Development): help to identify potential grant opportunities, and contribute relevant content and editing support.
·        Keep abreast of community developments, attending external events and meetings as applicable, and contributing to collaborative community projects.
·        Monitor and report on the impact of results relative to primary areas of responsibility.
·        Perform duties in accordance with Brown County United Way policies and procedures.
·        Other duties as assigned.
Requirements

Minimum Bachelor's Degree in social science, public administration, urban planning or related degree/work experience. At least four years related work experience preferred.
 
Demonstrated understanding of the human services sector. Ability to identify, articulate, and implement programs and strategies related to assigned areas of focus. Ability to effectively manage multiple priorities, be creative, take initiative, and adapt to changing conditions and organizational priorities. Ability to work well independently and within a team including staff and volunteers; strong interpersonal skills. Experience working with computer software, such as Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel, and/or other similar programs.
 
Ability to present ideas and proposals in a clear, concise, motivational manner, both in writing and verbally. Demonstrated experience in convening and facilitating large and small groups, developing work plans, and managing for results. Ability to establish good working relationships with a variety of publics, including staff members, volunteers, community leaders, agencies, etc. Evidence of ability to develop collaborative relationships within the context of addressing a specific issue or concern.
 
Relationships

Reports to the Vice President of Community Investment. Works in partnership with all United Way staff and has relationships with various community agencies, organizations, businesses, and volunteers.
