Program Manager/Supervisor, Family Support Program

Position Summary

The Program Manager/Supervisor will provide ongoing, intensive, professional supervision to the Home Visiting staff; including components of service, family support and/or family assessment. Supervi­sion is directed toward assuring quality of service and protecting the integrity and respect of the families served. Direct supervision of the staff serving the Lac du Flambeau/Vilas County area. Program is a Healthy Families America model program with emphasis on Growing Great Kids Curriculum. Daily attendance is an essential function of this position.
 
Principal Duties and Responsibilities
*Provides Supervise the Family Support Specialist(s) and Family Resource Specialist(s) in maintaining efficacy of the delivery of services to participants. *Assist with hiring, orientation, required trainings, ongoing coaching and performance evaluations of direct staff. *Train, implement and ensure compliance to standard program procedures and DAISEY data. Conduct record reviews and maintains the data collection system accuracy. *Ensure the integrity of the program is maintained through protection and respect of the families served; directs and provides case management. *Responsible for developing and maintaining an advisory group. *Assist with implementation of quality assurance plan (CQI), Communities of Practice (COP) and takes an active part in attending the meetings. *Provide weekly meetings for direct reports, guided by the Healthy Families America Critical Elements. *Assist in the support of families in developing realistic and effective support plans to meet the fam­ilies objectives/goals, to understand why a family may not be making the expected progress, determine effective methods of intervention. *Maintain knowledge and exper­tise in providing home-based services and completing assessment procedures utilized to determine families to be served by the program. *Implement and maintain department policies and procedures, including those pertaining to safety, to effectively manage staff.
 
Additional Duties and Responsibilities
*Reports Engage in networking activities to remain current on the availability of health and human services available to Native Americans. *Assure that all services are delivered in a culturally competent manner. *Participate on various committees outside and within the organization as deemed necessary and appropriate to the position and supervisor. *Attend training sessions and meetings as scheduled. *Attend technical conferences, seminars, workshops and other educational events to stay current on technological advances. *Perform other duties as necessary to fulfill the responsibilities of this position.



Working Relationships and Scope

Reports directly the Family Foundations Program Director. Daily contact with direct reports and participating staff. Frequent contact with employees in the same program and department. Frequent contact with clients, including in-home visits. Limited contact with outside vendors and the general public. Ongoing contact with federal and state agencies for purposes of remaining current on various issues.
 
Qualifications
Required: Bachelor’s degree with 3 years of relevant experience in Human Services or fields related to working with children and families preferred. Experience in home visitation with a background in prevention services to the 0-3-year-old population. A solid understanding or experience in supervising and motivating staff, as well as providing support to staff in a stressful work environment. Experience working with a Native American Tribal organization and/or not-for-profit agency desirable. Knowledge of infant and child development, parent-child attachment and maternal-infant health. Knowledge and experience in strength-based and family- centered provision of primary prevention services, and/or direct experience as a home visitor. Respect for and sensitivity to the needs and rights of others, including those with differing cultural, racial, sexual, or ethnic identities. Ability to establish trusting relationships and work effectively with mothers, fathers and extended family. Belief that children need to be nurtured. Must possess valid driver’s license, have access to reliable transportation with adequate insurance and be able to travel.
 
 
 
 
This is a full-time salaried exempt position working Monday-Friday 8:00am-4:30pm with a worksite located at Great Lakes Inter-Tribal Council Main Office, Lac Du Flambeau Wisconsin. This position, based on experience, has a salary range of $50,000 - $52,000 annually with benefits including: Annual/Personal Leave and Holiday Pay; Health, Dental, Life & AD&D, STD and LTD Insurance, FSA and 401(k) Retirement Plan. Requires frequent travel for the purposes of attending community and program related activities. Drug and background screening required before hire.
