Medical Laboratory Professional (MLT/MT/MLS/CLS)

This is a Full-time opportunity averaging 75 hours per pay period. This position will work on rotating/different shifts and will not be required to be on call.

This position can be filled by a qualified Medical Laboratory Professional which includes: Medical Laboratory Technician, Medical Technologist, Medical Laboratory Scientist, or Clinical Lab Scientist.

POSITION SUMMARY
Responsible for specimen collection, processing, test performance, and reporting test results for waived, moderate, or high
complexity tests that are performed within this organization, ensuring quality care and compliance with department policy. Performs quality assurance activities as defined by policy and regulation. Responsible for other tasks based on qualifications and experience as deemed necessary for the smooth and effective operation of the department.

Essential Functions Statement(s)
• Follows the laboratory's procedures for specimen collection, handling, processing, test analyses, reporting, and maintaining
records of patient test results.
• Maintains records that demonstrate that proficiency testing samples are tested in the same manner as patient samples.
• Adheres to the laboratory's quality control policies, documents all quality control activities, instrument and procedural
calibrations and maintenance performed.
• Follows the laboratory's established corrective action policies and procedures whenever test systems are not within the
laboratory's defined acceptable levels of performance.
• Identifies problems that may adversely affect test performance or reporting of test results and corrects the problem or
immediately notifies the technical supervisor, clinical consultant or director.
• Documents all corrective actions taken when test systems deviate from the laboratory's established performance
characteristics.
