The Deputy Press Secretary will provide strategic communications support to the City Council President and other members of the Council President’s senior staff. This support will include working closely with the Director of Communications to coordinate internal and external communications with the Council President and staff at various press engagements, and serve as a liaison to media outlets. This position will require experience working with the press, including fielding media inquiries, pitching stories to the media, drafting press releases and media advisories.
Key Deliverables:
·        Acts as media liaison for the Council President.
·        Manages the Council President’s presence on social media sites like, Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, Instagram.
·        Implements media, communications, and public relations strategies for the Council President.
·        Maintains a full understanding of all of the Council President’s policies, initiatives, and status on subject matters/issues.
·        Drafts press releases, media advisories, weekly schedule and talking points.
·        Serves as advance staff for the Council President’s press conferences and other media availabilities.
·        Sends daily news clips.
·        Composes daily, weekly and monthly earned media reports.
·        Perform other duties as assigned.
·        Maintains the Baltimore City Council website
