Engineering Co-op 

Job Summary:
The Engineering Co-op is responsible for successful execution of specific projects relating to label and/or flexible packaging operations. Responsibilities may also involve assisting coworkers in developing or testing processes and materials to ensure cost-effective production processes, improving current processes, observing and measuring data. Emphasis on improving productivity, quality and profitability while reducing overall costs. Ensure safety requirements are followed throughout all activities. The Engineering Co-op must be able to will work effectively in cross-functional teams as well as closely with the Inland team, customers and vendors.

  • Must work in a safe and ethical manner at all times
  • Develop solid understanding of Inland processes, materials, and equipment
  • Knowledge of quality requirements, procedures and lab protocols along with customer specifications
  • Completes specific projects utilizing scientific and analytical approaches
  • Accurately builds detailed reports by compiling and recording data for internal and external reporting
  •  Networks and researches new technology, as appropriate
  • Effectively communicates with all team members - including key contacts and strategic partners of Inland
  • Assists coworkers with special projects and daily responsibilities, as assigned
  • Performs other duties, as assigned
 
Essential Skills & Experience:
  • Junior or senior level toward Bachelors of Science degree in relevant engineering program
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
  •  Working knowledge of basic statistics, process variation, and statistical process control
  • Project management skills – effectively manage multiple project assignments
  • Detail oriented, draw conclusions and create solutions from applicable data
  • Ability to work in cross-functional teams to plan and execute projects on time and within budget
  • Problem solving skills including proactive systemic root cause identification and resolution
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills tailored to specific audience
  • Solid organization, planning, initiative, flexibility and analytical skills

Work Environment:
Operate in a fast-paced, people-oriented manufacturing environment with frequent changes and interruptions. Manage multiple project assignments in alignment with strategic business goals. Work with a variety of people including vendors, customers, employees, managers, and executives.

Required Work Schedule:
Typically, work standard business days and hours. Must be flexible to attend meetings, functions and to be available during off-hours, weekends, and holidays to meet organizational initiatives. Some travel and overnight trips may be required. 
Physical Requirements:
Walk, sit, bend, stoop, push, pull and stand; lift 20 pounds; 20/40 vision acuity.
