New College Graduate - Sensor Sales Engineer

We are looking to fill multiple positions based in Chicago, Toronto, Phoenix, and Denver.

When:

We are seeking newly graduating seniors who will be available in June of 2020 when they finish their final year of school to start our comprehensive sales training program.

This program is designed to train and engage emerging engineering professionals that are interested in a career in technical sales. You will be solving real world problems for our customers in the manufacturing industry. We will train you to combine your technical and sales skills to provide cutting edge technology solutions to Cognex customers, in a consultative manner. Our accelerated and comprehensive on-boarding and training will enable you to Work Hard, Play Hard, and Move Fast!

The Technical Sales Training Program seeks to cultivate highly skilled, productive and committed Cognoids who will help drive Cognex’s future sales growth. 

You won’t have to wait long to experience the life a tenured sales engineer. Our accelerated 13 week on-boarding program incorporates travelling and working in multiple cities throughout the country. New Cognoids will learn from VP’s, Director’s, Managers, and proven Sales Engineers on topics including: 

Cognex Essentials: Cognex Culture, Company History, Machine Vision, Artificial Intelligence, Auto Identification
Industrial Technology: Robotics, Internet of Things, Sensors, PLC’s, Pneumatics
Industry Knowledge: Automotive, Food & Beverage, Packaging, Consumer Electronics, Pharmaceuticals, Logistics
Sales Skills: Prospecting, Sales Calls, Closing a Sale, Negotiation
Business Skills: Time Management, Presentation Skills, C-Level Meetings, IT Tools, CRM 
From classrooms, labs, and actual customer visits, you will spend your days immersing yourself in both Cognex Culture and learning to become a successful sales engineer. Once you have completed your on-boarding and training, the expectation is that you will be assigned to a territory that you will run with an entrepreneurial spirit, with the goal of growing the sales. Below are the requirements for the Sensor Sales Engineer position:

Essential Functions:

  • Responsible for achieving a defined sales quota at both current and prospective customer in the designated territory.
  • Travel onsite to customer manufacturing facilities and review applications / issues in order provide solutions to these applications
  • Follow up on sales leads and schedule customer onsite visits
  • Assists at trade shows and other marketing events
  • Coordinate more complex evaluations utilizing the Cognex Applications Engineering team
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Interested in a career in technical sales
  • Action-oriented mind set
  • PC literate with a working knowledge of MS Windows applications
  • Ability to work independently is required
Minimum education and work experience required:

  • Currently pursuing a STEM degree at a top school.
  • Engineering internship experience a plus
