Position Summary
The Internship Program with WPS Health Solutions is comprised of four key components. WPS interns will primarily focus on the responsibilities within their functional areas, as it relates to their respective field of study. In a group setting, interns will collaborate on the “Pay-It-Forward Project." The third component relates to exposure to corporate culture and training to aid in future career successes. At the conclusion of the program, interns will participate in a final presentation for senior executives by showcasing their experience in the program and functional areas.

The Financial Planning and Analysis team partners with leaders across the business to set WPS’ targets and understand its results. Our work directly supports the business in finding growth opportunities and driving efficiency, whether it’s forecasting for next year’s budget, working with our leadership team on bid proposals, or developing cost-saving strategies.

You will work with the FP&A team to develop various analyses across WPS business lines including Insurance, Government Healthcare, and Military and VA Healthcare. The intern will be expected to quickly gain working knowledge of the business and to provide insights to the team. In addition, the intern will be challenged to provide input into improving the analytical capabilities of the team and making processes more efficient.

In this role you may perform:

  • Budgeting/Forecasting
  • Financial Reporting and Analysis
  • Financial Modeling
  • Bid Proposals
  • Ad-hoc analysis to support executive decision making

You should have:

  • Currently pursuing a degree in Finance, or related field or recent graduate
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Powerpoint

Preferred skills and experiences include:

  • Prior work/internship experience in finance/accounting
  • Membership in relevant organizations/clubs
  • Knowledge of BI Tools (Cognos/Power BI)
