Help Desk Support Intern

Altra Federal Credit Union is seeking a Part Time Help Desk Support Intern at the Operations Center in Onalaska, WI. The Help Desk Support Intern will be responsible for supporting the systems and applications used by Altra, which will include performance, functionality and security. This position will be responsible for providing technical phone support, troubleshooting and diagnosing user environments, answering technical support emails and providing on-site support to all Altra users at all Altra offices. The Help Desk Support Intern position can be either a part time or / and internship or both. Experience is preferred.
Help Desk & User Support activities include, but are not limited to:
  • Take and document calls to the Help Desk
  • Respond to calls within agreed upon time frames; working through those calls through resolution and escalate calls when appropriate to IT Team members
  • Document resolution to calls
  • Respond to emails that are of a technical support nature
  • Make on-site visits to local office to resolve technical issues as needed
  • Setup workstations, printers and scanners and includes any configurations with hardware, installing software and resolving usage problems
  • Support Microsoft Office applications
  • Support applications used by the Altra Branches and the Operations Center
  • On an as needed basis, provide network administrative assistance to the IT department
This position will be 25-29 hours per week and require availability Monday through Friday between the operating hours of 6:30 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. Scheduling will be based on the candidate’s availability.
Project Management experience would be a plus, this includes planning, implementation, and deployment of technical projects. Possess a working knowledge in some of the following areas: Help Desk operations, backup procedures, Microsoft Windows Operating System, Microsoft Windows Server, Microsoft Active Directory and group policies, Microsoft Windows terminal services and / or Citrix Presentation Server, scripting, performance monitoring and trouble shooting, Linux or other operating systems.
A high school diploma, GED or HSED is required. An Associates degree or higher in Computer Science or related field OR equivalent work experience is preferred, but not required. A Technical Certificate is a plus. Help Desk experience is preferred, as well as experience in trouble shooting technical environments. Experience supporting network environments and programming or database experience is a plus.
