social media intern

Social Media Marketing Intern
Department:             Communications
Location:                   300 N. Broadway St., Suite 3-A, Green Bay, WI 54303
Reports to:                VP of Marketing & Communications
Status:                        12-15 hours/week for 1 school year (paid a stipend)
 

SUMMARY OF POSITION: The social media marketing intern plays an integral role in the Chamber’s marketing and communications department. The department serves as an internal support agency for all chamber programs which include: Administration, Member Services, Workforce Development, Leadership Green Bay, Current Young Professionals, Economic Development and Government Affairs. The intern’s principal responsibilities are to assist the marketing & communications VP and marketing manager in the following: social media, digital media, writing (including social media posts) video production (if that is an area of expertise), etc. The exact job responsibilities will be tailored to the intern’s areas of expertise/interest.


POTENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
Social Media
§ Updates Facebook, Twitter, and LinkedIn accounts.
§ Responds to posts or comments to increase engagement.
§ Posts updates, news and announcements in a timely manner using appropriate content.
§ Performs research to find articles, stories, and resources or other content that is relevant to our organization and posts it to our social media accounts.
§ Completes other social media projects as assigned.

Digital Media
§ Shoots and edits photos for promotional content.
§ Shoots and edits video footage for promotional videos and content.
§ Organize and archive digital images and videos from shared drive to external drive.
§ Makes updates to website content as needed (event information, photos, videos, press releases etc.).
§ Completes other digital media projects as assigned.

Research
§ Researches new trends in social media.
§ Updates media contacts list as needed and reach out to new media contacts to add to list.
§ Completes other research projects as assigned.

Analytics and Reporting
§ Uses Google Analytics to assess trends and activity on the Greater Green Bay Chamber’s website.
§ Uses Facebook Insights to assess trends and activities on the Greater Green Bay Chamber’s Facebook pages (5).
§ Reviews data on the performance of social media platforms and adjusts plans or strategies to optimize engagement.

Writing
·        Writes content for social media posts and press releases.
·        Other writing as assigned.

REQUIREMENTS
§ Must be in the 2nd year of a two-year technical college program or a junior/senior in a four-year college program.
§ Must be pursuing either an associate’s or bachelor’s degree in Digital Marketing, Marketing, Communications, Advertising, Design (web or graphic), Public Relations, Business with Marketing emphasis, or related field.
§ Detail oriented with strong written and verbal communication skills.
§ Experience with video and photo editing programs (PremierePro, Illustrator, Photoshop, Lightroom).
§ Knowledge of Associated Press style writing a plus but not required (will train right candidate).
